New York City, NY. – September 22, 2014 – Jonathan Adler and REM Eyewear announced today a licensing agreement to produce women’s eyewear, which will launch in March 2015 at optical and department stores.  This is the latest addition to Adler’s assortment of fashion accessories, which includes handbags, scarves, wallets, men’s neckwear, and socks for men, women and children. The eyewear collection will include sunglasses, readers and optical frames distributed globally.

Styles take details from furniture design, such as campaign hardware, and apply them to eyewear. Circular temple tips are branded “JA,” and custom acetate has been developed for the brand.  The retail prices of the collection range from $58 for readers to $135 to sun and $195 for optical frames.

“I’m obsessed with eyewear. It fits my world perfectly,” said Adler. “Eyewear is glamour. Eyewear is style. Glasses can make or break a guy or girl, so I’m excited to be playing in this world.”

“Jonathan Adler is a fearless pacesetter of modern design, recreating the past and bringing us into the future in imaginative ways,” stated Mike Hundert, CEO of REM Eyewear, who signed a five-year agreement to make and distribute the eyewear worldwide. “He is smart, irreverent, and fun — personality traits that percolate into the creativity of Jonathan Adler Eyewear.”

The Jonathan Adler brand is an ideal contemporary fit into REM’s powerful brand portfolio that includes Converse, John Varvatos, Lucky Brand, Tumi, Jones New York, and Cosmopolitan, in addition to its house brands of Visualites, Surface, Lipstick, and Indie. Headquartered in Los Angeles for its 60 years, REM serves customers in more than 80 countries from its global offices in Hong Kong, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
